Product Description
A non-toxic, water-based polyester and acrylic wood sealer for the preservation of all wood surfaces. This penetrating sealer can be used by itself or as a primer before the application of acrylic paint or other acrylic/polyurethane top coats. It does not change the look of the surface. TYPICAL USES: Penetrating, non slippery sealer can be used on horizontal surfaces such as decks, wood docks (both floating and stand alone) as well as fencing, balconies, birdhouses and signposts. PRODUCT ADVANTAGES: is the most effective wood sealer on the market because unlike most topcoat sealers, the Trojan Beta-Z actually penetrates the fibers of the wood thereby providing superior protection. This product is recommended for pressure-treated wood that has aged at least 3 years or more. It is non-flammable, non-caustic and non-toxic. Will not harm aquatic life. COLOR: Translucent PHYSICAL CONSTANTS: * State: Liquid * Vapor Pressure: (Air + 1) - N/A * Solubility in Water: Dilutable * Boiling Point: 100 degrees Celsius / 212 degrees Fahrenheit * Freezing Point: 0 degrees Celsius / 32 degrees Fahrenheit Water * Specific Gravity: (Water=1) - 1.10 @ 20 degrees Celsius * Evaporation Rate: (BAC=1) - Same as Water * Percent Solids by Weight: 29% * pH: 6.8 * Volatile Organic Compounds: 54.5 G/L APPLICATION: Method: Brush, Roll or Spray Theoretical Coverage: 200 square feet per gallon Application Instructions: Limitations: Apply in good weather when air and surface temperature are above 45 F. and surface temperature is at least 5 F. above the Dew Point. For optimum application properties, materials should be between 70-90 F. prior to application. Maintain unused material in closed containers in protected storage at 40-90 F out of direct sunlight. Not intended to be used submerged in water for extended period of time. If surface does NOT absorb water, then there is possibly another sealer applied to the surface and Trojan Beta-Z Wood Sealer should not be applied. To paint over a Trojan Beta-Z treated area, use only a good quality acrylic, oil-base, epoxy or urethane paint. Do not use latex paint over a Trojan coated surface since latex paint makes a weak bond especially in exterior applications. SURFACE PREPARATION: 1. Always test on surfaces prior to application. 2. Clean all dirt, oil and grease off surface using Enviro Clean Degreaser. If surface has a sheen to it, then sand lightly with fine grade sand paper or steel wool. 3. Apply Trojan Beta-Z with a low pressure sprayer and back roll or use roller only. Trojan Beta-Z should be applied liberally to allow the surface to drink as much as possible without leaving puddles. Back roll to even out the material and to remove any puddles in low spots. On some historic, old and extremely porous surfaces a second coat may need to be applied to completely seal the surface. Allow to dry thoroughly before applying other top coats. Manufacturer recommends OSHA Compliance chemical gloves, eye protection and rubber boots. Safety: Safe storage, handling and use dictate that adequate health and safety precautions be observed with this product. User is specifically directed to consult the current Material safety Data Sheet for this product as well as precautions contained on product labeling.
