Borolan: An Excellent Replacement for Boraxo Hand Soap

Well the internet is in an uproar about Boraxo being discontinued. Apparently this powdered hand soap was one of the last in a generation of powdered hand soaps with Borax, that was popular amongst mechanics and people who worked in shops where hands get very, very dirty and regular soaps just don’t do the job.

Always seeking to please, Worldwide Janitor has stepped up to ensure that the internet gets its industrial cleaning needs met. It just so happens that one of our favorite manufacturers, Crown Chemical, makes a great replacement product for Boraxo called Borolan.

Borolan is an industrial strength powdered hand soap for use in factories, automotive repair facilities, and many other applications where repeated cleaning of greasy, grimy hands is required. It contains a grease-cutting blend of borax and premium quality soaps. Borolan is very effective at removing soils while being mild to the skin. It is also non-clogging in drains and has a pleasant mint fragrance. We are selling it in 50 lbs pails at the present time.

EPA Approves: Tactical Strike Disinfectant Kills Coronavirus

Tactical Strike Disinfectant

Up until now, whenever someone asked us which disinfectants kill Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, Covid-19), we had to say that none of them have been proven to kill it yet. Our best suggestion was to send them to the EPA List N, which is a list of suggested products that the EPA recommends.

The EPA also tightly controls what wording disinfectant manufacturers can use on their labels. It has to do with a lot of testing of each disinfectant’s active ingredients. A disinfectant manufacturer can only put kill claims on their labels that have been proven and approved by the EPA,

That’s why today’s news is huge for Snee Chemical Company. They just got EPA approval to put kill claims on their Tactical Strike label for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19 aka Coronavirus. All new Tactical Strike Disinfectant made from here on out will have this same formulation they have been using and this wording on the label.

Finally you can be sure that the product you are purchasing does what it is intended to do!

Covid-19 Update for Worldwide Janitor

These are difficult times, and the challenges we’ve faced are unprecedented. We are doing our best to help our customers acquire the products they love and especially the products that they need to fight Coronavirus. Here is an update on the status of our different product lines.

Disinfectants: Somehow we have managed to keep a steady supply of disinfectants coming in. The items you see here are in stock and ship out within 1-2 business days.

Face Masks: Unfortunately, this is all we have right now. We are not price gouging, we actually had to pay a lot to get these. That being said, they are in stock and ready to ship in 1-2 business days.

Alconox: We have been filling orders as usual here. There could be a lightly longer delay than normal for orders coming from the factory and Citranox 4×1 gal cases.

Chemical Dispensing Systems: Knight, Dema, Hydro Systems, and Seko have all been filling our drop ship orders as usual, and we still keep some stock on hand.

Laundry Products: We know this is a big area of concern for many because we have removed a lot of our products from the store. This was due to supply chain disruptions and orders not being filled in a timely manner. These products will return as soon as things get back to reasonable order fulfillment times.

What Disinfectants to Use for Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, Covid-19)?

Pure Pine Odor 10 Disinfectant

***UPDATE EPA APPROVES TACTICAL STRIKE DISINFECTANT COVID-19 KILL CLAIMS ON LABEL***

We’re getting a ton of questions about this right now, so I’m going to keep this post short and to the point.

There are currently no disinfectants that are allowed to legally make kill claims against SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that causes the disease COVID-19, because it is so new, none of them have undergone the required testing to be EPA approved for that use.

That being said – the EPA has a list up of many disinfectants and their active ingredients that it recommends for us against coronavirus.

Some of the products we carry at Worldwide Janitor, like Lysol Clean & Fresh, are actually named on this list. While others, like Pine 10, Lemon 10 and more, use Quaternary Ammonium bases as their active ingredient, which is a common active ingredient listed on many of the EPA’s recommended products. In fact, many disinfectants use some form of Quaternary ammonium that has been shown to kill similar viruses in the past (like HIV, SARS, FLU, etc). The EPA list is a good reference though because it lists those specifically that make kill claims against past Coronaviruses.

So while we can’t answer this question perfectly, we can guide you in the direction to follow some suggestions that the EPA recommends.

Take the Steps to Ensure all of Your Water is Clean

plumber installing new water filtration systemRecent events in Flint, Michigan led to many local and state agencies, as well as schools and businesses to investigate their water systems. Lead has been found in some communities and officials are tackling those issues. Although water fountains are typically disinfected and well maintained by cleaning staff, the lead in those types of water systems can’t be easily washed away. It’s important to understand how you can find out if you water supply is lead and contaminant free.

The EPA requires a yearly report for all community water systems accessible to residents in the community. Referred to as the Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), the report is published by July of each year and can be found by contacting your local community water supplier. If there are issues with the community water, the EPA requires the water supplier to alert residents within the community. Continue reading

How to Tackle Mold in Your Facility

Mold on the ceilingAlthough mold often accumulates in areas such as the basement and bathrooms, it can also be a nuisance in buildings with high humidity levels. Buildings are often dry during winter months because of heaters to keep the building warm using forced air. When the weather gets warmer and humidity levels increase, mold can grow on almost any surface. Because mold can cause sickness and allergies, routine inspections and using the appropriate cleaning products can help reduce mold.

Use Disinfectants

Disinfectants, or products that kill about 99.9% of germs and bacteria, kill mold. Only mold spores can survive the use of disinfectants, although mold spores are greatly reduced in heated or dryer environments. Because mold spores survive, it makes cleaning mold important on a routine basis. Even standard disinfectant sprays which are safe to spray in the air and on surfaces can assist in the fight against mold. Continue reading

Cleaning Myths – The Old vs. The New Products

Floor cleaning supplies and equipmentWe often look for cleaning products and solutions to find cheaper, easier and more effective ways to clean. Some use natural ingredients to be greener and help protect our environment and the earth. Others search for products that make the cleaning process quick, easy and cheap. How to Prepare for Spring Weather

Hello Spring Vector Design with 3D Realistic Fresh Plants and Flowers Elements for Spring Season. Vector IllustrationPunxsutawney Phil, that famous ground hog we rely on to tell us spring is on its way, didn’t see his shadow.  Spring is around the corner! When the snow is gone and the cold weather gets warmer, it often brings in dust, pollen and other debris into facilities. The winter weather also leaves behind leftover ice remover, such as rock salt, and general dirt and debris. It requires special attention during cleaning in early spring to keep the indoor environment clean.

Pollen causes what is often referred to as “spring allergies” or “hay fever”. This includes symptoms similar to a cold or flu, such as a runny nose, watery and itchy eyes, coughing and sneezing. Not everyone has allergies, but it does affect over 58 million people in the U.S. each spring, which is about 20% of the U.S. population. The reason some people have allergies is because their body’s immune system treats pollen like bacteria or a virus – this causes the body to release antibodies to fight the potential illness. Although allergies can be annoying, they’re generally mild allowing people to go about their normal daily activities. Some people suffer from much more severe condition, such as asthma, which can be caused by allergies from pollen. Continue reading
