Why We Like Trojan Masonry Sealer

Trojan Masonry SealerToday we will continue our series about taking care of your concrete and mortar surfaces. By taking care of these surfaces, you are protecting the large investment that these areas mean for your organization or business.
Here, at Worldwide Janitor, we just started selling a product that we are very excited about, Trojan Masonry Sealer. It can be used on both vertical and horizontal surfaces. Trojan Masonry Sealer is a polyester, water-based, non-slick, polymer that bonds to your surface. It protects by filling in any cracks that exist, and seals up any pores or microscopic holes that may exist and cause later issues with water, weather, or wear.

This product has a variety of uses and is appropriate for buildings, sidewalks, driveways, basement walls and floors, bridge decks, roads, parking lot structures, chimneys, and patios.

The age of these surfaces is not a factor. Whether you need to seal new construction or a centuries-old building or walkway, Trojan Masonry Sealer will meet your needs and protect that surface.

We’ll discuss the benefits of this product for each of the main types of surfaces that are improved through the use of this product, although this list is in no way comprehensive–this versatile product works great on many different surfaces. Not sure if will work on yours? Send us an email and we’ll be happy to help you!

Concrete

We touched on this product and its sealing properties on concrete two weeks ago when we discussed how to care for your concrete surfaces. But, for a quick refresh, it is quite useful in filling in porous concrete and making your surfaces less susceptible to freezing, thawing, and other weather-related damage. The cracks that occur when concrete is left untreated can render your large investment moot. Trojan Masonry Sealer prevents that from happening.

It can be used on any of your concrete surfaces, inside or outside.  In fact, using this product outdoors will prevent water penetration that can lead to expensive repairs, especially in humid climates, and especially when mold forms. But even if humidity is not a factor for you, your concrete areas that are often exposed to water will highly benefit from Trojan Masonry Sealer and allow you to spend your time on other projects than repair and cleaning.

Brick and Mortar

Trojan Masonry Sealer also works for brick surfaces, creating a non-slick barrier, which allows for a safe walking surface once applied.  Therefore, brick walkways or driveways, which are notorious for needing large amounts of maintenance—repair of brick and replacement of damaged brick—are made less open to weather and wear-related cracking and chipping.

This product is also great for vertical surfaces. One of the most popular uses for Trojan sealer is on leaky chimneys. Many homeowners have found it to be great at solving this common problem.  Chimney replacement and repair is expensive and potentially dangerous depending on how high your roof is. By sealing your chimney brick and mortar with this product, you make those repairs less frequent or potentially non-existent, saving you time and money.

Limestone

In areas that have limestone buildings or walkways, those taking care of these buildings and structures understand how soft these surfaces are and how susceptible they are to mold and flaking. Trojan Masonry Sealer stops both of those from happening.

This sealer will help harden your limestone, making it less likely to allow mold into the crevices. It helps to keep your limestone clean and white rather than black and dingy. By hardening, it also will make your limestone surface not flake off as easily.  Therefore, you will spend less time picking up pieces of rock and having to repair places where the rock has fallen off.  Once again, saving time and money.

How to Apply

As for application, Trojan Masonry Sealer is easy to apply. Simply spray it with a pump sprayer onto your stone, brick, concrete, or mortar surfaces.  According to the manufacturer, one gallon should cover about 200 square feet.

When applying, do so liberally to saturate the surface you need sealed. Keep applying until the surface does not absorb any more and excess begins to roll off.

Even though it is a water-based product, safety is still key. Remember to protect your eyes and skin by wearing safety goggles, gloves, and boots. It is a low VOC formula, so a respirator is not needed.

How Long Will Trojan Masonry Sealer Last?

Trojan Masonry Sealer has a fifteen-year warranty, so while you may need to reapply it at a later point, that time will not come for many years. As long as you apply the product deeply, it should last a long time, keeping you from repairs on your surfaces and saving you money in the long run.

In short, no matter what business, organization, or industry you are in, you can benefit from this product. It will protect your investments, keep your costs for repairs low, and free you up to spend your valuable time on other tasks.
