Your New Favorite Cleaning Product: Oxy Care

Dirty ShirtWhile browsing cleaning products on Worldwide Janitor, you may have noticed a product called Oxy Care. This amazing organic stain-removing product is in a category all on its own because it is so unique and has a wide variety of uses. In many ways, it’s like a magic cleaner!

Before we talk about all the ways it can be used, what is Oxy Care?

What is Oxy Care?

The chemical name of Oxy Care is sodium percarbonate. It essentially consists of soda ash (sodium carbonate) treated with hydrogen peroxide. It is always in powdered form and mixed with water right before use. When water is added, the powder releases oxygen.

Oh, so it’s like OxiClean!”

Well, yes, actually. It’s the very same formula as OxiClean of infomercial fame. The good news is that you don’t need the name brand stuff, and the generic (like Worldwide Janitor’s product, Oxy Care) is 100% as effective, but it costs less.

How it Works

Oxy Care removes stains and odors with the oxygen bubbles created when the powder product is added to water. It breaks the bond between the surface and the stain, disinfecting and deodorizing in the process.

The Uses of Oxy Care

Oxy Care removes organic stains extremely effectively. Some examples of organic stains that Oxy Care is great at removing include:

  • Grass
  • Mud
  • Dirt
  • Wine
  • Berries and fruit
  • Tea and coffee
  • Vegetables
  • Sauces and other foods
  • Blood and bodily fluids

Oxy Care does not damage fabrics like traditional chlorine bleach does. In fact, Oxy Care can be used on lots of different surfaces, including:

  • Fabric
  • Porcelain
  • Fiberglass
  • Ceramics
  • Wood
  • Carpet
  • Upholstery

This miracle cleaner does have its limitations though. First, it’s not best at removing any kind of synthetic stain, such as ink, oil, or paint. Second, it can’t be used on all fabrics. Do not use Oxy Care on silk, wool, or other delicates. As always, if you’re not sure about a particular fabric, test the cleaner on a small, inconspicuous swatch of the fabric before risking it on the affected area of the garment.

Advantages of Oxy Care

We’ve already mentioned that Oxy Care is just as effective as traditional chlorine bleach, but does not discolor fabrics the way that chlorine bleach does. Traditional chlorine bleach is not just permanently destructive to fabrics, but to many surface finishes, like wood stains and metals.

Another advantage of Oxy Care over traditional chlorine bleach is that it’s a lot safer for people and animals. Traditional chlorine bleach can damage skin, eyes, nasal passages, and lungs, and is likely one of the most toxic cleaning products in your home cleaning cabinet or janitor’s closet. Oxy Care, on the other hand, is safe to use around animals, people, and even plants. In addition, after use, Oxy Care breaks down into just water, oxygen, and soda ash, so there are no toxic chemicals being released into the environment.

Other Uses for Oxy Care

If Oxy Care could only be used as a powerful organic stain remover, that would be enough! But it has lots of other uses as well. For example, Oxy Care can be used in conjunction with your regular laundry detergent to help brighten and deodorize clothing. It’s especially useful for heavily soiled loads of laundry.

It is also great for kitchen and bathroom floors, fixtures, and surfaces, as well as plastic surfaces that require deodorizing or cleaning, such as cat litter boxes. It’s safe to consider Oxy Care your (nearly) all-purpose, non-toxic cleaner.

How to Use It

Using Oxy Care is easy! Just follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Mix the product with water. Follow the directions on the product package to make sure you’re using the correct proportion.

Step 2: Listen for the bubbling. You’ll see and hear bubbling as the substance reacts with water and activates the cleaning agent. Make sure the product is fully dissolved in water before using.

Step 3: Apply the mixture to the affected area with a rag, sponge, or brush.

Step 4: Because Oxy Care acts relatively slowly, you will need to let it soak with the fabric or surface for at least 30 minutes, possibly longer for heavily soiled items or tough stains. If you have time to let it sit for several hours, that’s even better.

Step 5: Rinse the affected surface with clean, cool water.

Step 6: Dispose of any unused portion of the mixture. You’ll need to start with a fresh batch of mixture next time.

That’s it! Your organic stains will never be a cleaning challenge again. With so many different uses for this product, keeping it with your cleaning supplies is a no brainer, especially when you can buy it for a great price right here at Worldwide Janitor!
